July 6, 2010 - Chippewa Falls, WI For the 2010-2011 season, the Class AA (collegiate five-man) division of the National Collegiate Paintball Association will adopt the popular RaceTo-2 format. The RaceTo-2 format, introduced by Paintball Sports Promotions, has proven to be an exciting format with several advantages over traditional 5-man. The best two-of-three scoring helps rewards consistent performance by teams and allows teams to play more games per event. The change will also allow the NCPA to adopt the PSP rule book, eliminating possible confusion by allowing referees who officiate more than one league to focus on one set of rules. Using a common format will also allow college players to practice the same format against non-college teams, and make it easier for college players to advance to non-college competition. The National Collegiate Paintball Association has sanctioned over 200 paintball tournaments since it was founded in 2000, including the annual National Championships conducted each April and broadcast on Fox College Sports. Full details about the upcoming 2010-2011 season as well as contact information can be found at www.ncpapaintball.com. The RaceTo-2 format does not allow pit-side coaching. Non-pit-side coaching is not explicitly forbidden, but standard sportsmanship and decorum policies will govern coaching.
